Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN is the first drain mat system that can be installed without a thick mortar bed and that offers all the stress absorption properties of an uncoupling system.
The superior drainage properties of the Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN prevent freeze/thaw damage caused by the accumulation of moisture in exterior tile installations and help reduce unsightly efflorescence.
Although only 1/4" thick, the Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN provides superior compressive and tensile strength when compared to other drain mats and uncoupling systems.

Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN provides the ultimate drainage and uncoupling system for outdoor tile installations.
Unlike other drainage systems, the Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN does not require a thick mud bed and can be installed using thinset mortar or water proof adhesive.
This lightweight easy-to-install mat offers superior drain capabilities and all the stress absorption properties of an uncoupling system.
Installation:
In addition to being clean, dry, flat and load bearing, the substrate must be sloped a minimum of 1/4” per foot and waterproofed (If installation is not over occupied space, use Blanke AQUA SHIELD 100 for waterproofing).
Trowel a more liquid than normal mix of thinset mortar onto substrate.
Lay the Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN panels in a row so that the mesh overhang on the two sides of a panel cover the seams of the sides of adjacent panels without the overhang.
Subsequent rows of panels should be placed so that the seams running perpendicular to the previous row are offset a minimum of 3” from the seams running in the same direction in the previous row.
Use the flat side of a trowel or a vinyl roller to press the panel into the thinset ensuring that the fabric on the underside of the panel achieves full contact with the thinset and that there are no air bubbles.
Use the flat side of the trowel to key thinset into the voids on top of the Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN. Set tile using a notch trowel appropriate for the type of tile and traffic.
Blanke BALCON-Edge Protector with built in weep holes can be used to protect terrace or deck edge. (Read Blanke ULTRA-DRAIN Installation Instruction Blanke BALCONY SYSTEM prior to installing these products).
Movement joints need to be placed in the tile surface per industry standards and Tile Council of America guidelines.

Plywood (EGP only water proofed and sloped)
- 16" o.c. joist spacing, minimum subfloor thickness: 5/8"
- 19.2" o.c. joist spacing, minimum subfloor thickness: 3/4"
- 24" o.c. joist spacing, minimum subfloor thickness: double layer 3/4" + 3/8" panels.

Technical Data:
Top Mesh: Extruded twisted strands of highly alkali resistant glass heat welded to the lower layer of HDPE mesh.
Lower Mesh: Extruded twisted strands of alkali resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE) forming two bottom layers of overlapping mesh with fleece fabric separating the layers.
