Installation Procedures for TileWare Promessa Series Baskets

TileWare Promessa shower basket installation system

STEP 1 Determine Basket Location

Determine basket location for TileWare Promessa installation

Determine the wall surface where the PermaTile™ Fastener should be located.

Apply thin-set mortar with no less than a 1/4" x 3/8" notch trowel.

Warning: Use only latex modified mortars that meet ANSI A118.4 performance standards.

STEP 2 Understand PermaTile™ Fastener

PermaTile fastener for TileWare Promessa baskets

Prepackaged plastic thumb screws should not be removed until after grouting.

Each PermaTile™ Fastener is constructed from high-quality solid stainless steel materials.

The welded fastener is equipped with 8-32 internal thread studs.

Warning: Each threaded stud is covered with a plastic thumb-turn screw to prevent thin-set mortar from entering the threads. Do not remove until after grouting.

STEP 3 Install PermaTile™ Fastener

Installing PermaTile fastener into thin-set mortar

Press the PermaTile™ Fastener into the combed thin-set mortar at the predetermined location.

Key thin-set mortar into the back side of the tile to ensure proper contact and adhesion.

Adjust as necessary, setting the stud directly on the tile edge.

STEP 4 Notch Tile

Mark the left-side notch location.

Mark the right-side notch location.

Using an angle grinder, remove enough material to allow approximately 1/16" adjustment side-to-side and up-and-down.

Warning: Notches and holes should not exceed 3/8" in diameter to ensure the ferrule has sufficient surface area during mounting.

STEP 5 Install Notched Tile

Installing notched tile around PermaTile fastener

Key thin-set mortar into the back side of the tile to ensure proper contact and adhesion.

Press the tile into the wall and adjust as necessary.

This completes the fastener installation portion. Continue setting all other tile, allowing proper cure time as specified by the thin-set manufacturer.

Warning: Do not proceed with accessory installation until the thin-set mortar has met the manufacturer's minimum curing requirements.

STEP 6 Install Ferrules

Installing ferrules on TileWare Promessa fasteners

Immediately proceed to accessory mounting after grouting is completed.

Slip ferrules over the studs.

Included with each basket assembly are two ferrule styles.

Standard Wall Ferrules: 7/16" length for tile thicknesses from 1/4" to 7/16".

Thin Wall Ferrules: 5/8" length for tile thicknesses under 1/4".

STEP 7 Install Basket Accessory

Mounting TileWare Promessa basket accessory

Each basket accessory is drilled with two countersunk holes that align with the stud locations.

Insert the 8-32 stainless steel screw through the basket hole and attach it to the threaded stud.

Using a 6-inch Phillips-head screwdriver, firmly secure the basket accessory.

After the basket is installed, use a level to verify alignment and make adjustments as necessary before re-tightening the screws.

Warning: Ensure the screw and stud remain parallel to avoid cross-threading.

STEP 8 Install Decorative Plugs

Each basket assembly includes two decorative plugs to cover the screw access holes.

Place the plug over the exposed hole and press firmly into position.

Ensure all prongs enter the hole evenly for proper installation.

Installation complete.
